Cars in Germany's Town Found Smeared with Nazi Symbols in Blood, Law Enforcement Report

Authorities mentioned they were notified by a man who discovered a vehicle in Hanau marked with red-colored substance

Approximately 50 cars have been covered with what seems to be human blood in the German town of Hanau near Frankfurt, according to authorities.

Vehicles, building surfaces and postboxes were vandalized, occasionally with swastikas, they announced in a statement.

Officers state they were alerted in the late hours on Wednesday evening, when a resident observed that a vehicle in the Lamboy neighborhood of Hanau had been smeared with a reddish-hued substance.

The substance had been drawn in the shape of a banned symbol, they reported.

Officers then located numerous other vandalized automobiles and building exteriors in the adjacent neighborhood.

These symbols are illegal in Germany under regulations outlawing the visible presentation of Nazi symbols.

Officials say early analysis show the liquid was likely blood from a person.

"There is still no clue as to its origin; officials are presently not aware of any harm in connection with the event," they added.

Municipal representatives announced they were attempting "to solve the case" and have asked to the public for information.

An important political figure said the vandalism made him stunned and had to be solved promptly.

"This incident hits the core of Hanau and revives the trauma of the far-right attack five years ago," he wrote on online, mentioning the death of nine victims by a gunman targeting individuals of migrant background in 2020.
