Football Recap: Broncos Narrowly Beat Hapless Jets in Low-Scoring Battle

During a defensive struggle this weekend, the Broncos managed to secure a close victory over the winless New York Jets. Signal-caller Bo Nix threw an early touchdown pass and specialist Wil Lutz provided the game-winning go-ahead field goal to seal the ugly win.

Dominant Performance Seals Game

Even with recording nine sacks versus Jets QB Justin Fields, the Broncos were behind 11-10 following conceding a safety in the second half. Remarkably, the Jets could only produce a mere 82 total net yards during the entire game.

The Denver quarterback, who completed 19 of 30 passes for 174 yards, engineered a critical 12-play, 65-yard possession that ended with Lutz's short field goal with just over five minutes remaining.

Historic Difficulties for Jets Offense

In spite of their horrendous performance, the Jets still had possession with a opportunity to drive for a possible winning score. However Fields was tackled on fourth-and-eight from the Denver 44 after head coach Aaron Glenn chose to go for it instead of sending out kicker Nick Folk for a difficult field-goal attempt.

The Jets quarterback struggled all game, completing just 9 of 17 attempts for 45 yards. The Jets ended up with minus-10 net yards passing, the fewest in any contest since 1998.

"Our passing game was non-existent," the coach commented after the contest.
