La Petite Maison's Drink – How to Make It

WThis is a home-style version of a drink found on the seasonal cocktail list. Designed as a batch prepared mix that is packed with essence associated with Christmas time, which makes it excellent for hosting a holiday party. Reserve the remaining syrup for brunch beverages, puddings, or to mix additional servings of bikinis.

The Bikini Cocktail

Serves 10 servings

Ingredients for the Clementine Cordial (yields 750ml)

300ml fresh clementine juice
200ml recently pressed lemon juice
500g caster sugar

For the Drink (makes 850ml, to serve 10)

400ml decent vodka
100ml dry gin
150ml peach-flavored liqueur
200ml clementine cordial (see above)
Fresh cranberries, as a garnish
Mandarin essential oil, for finishing

Method

To prepare the Citrus Syrup: Combine all the ingredients inside a pan, bring to a gentle boil, stirring until the sugar dissolves. Next, remove from the stove allowing it to reach room temperature completely. Decant into a clean bottle, cap it and store chilled, it will last for up to four weeks.

For the Premix: Mix the specified liquid ingredients into one big jug, leave to sit for 60 minutes, then filter it best through cheesecloth, so it's completely strained.

To serve: Add 85ml from the premix into a stirring glass packed with ice, and stir carefully for about 60 seconds until cold. Filter into a frosted cocktail glass or similar, decorate with a few cranberries and finish using a light spray of mandarin oil over the drink.
