Resolute Postecoglou Asserts 'Give Me Opportunity' During Criticism

The Forest manager has not won a single one of his seven fixtures since replacing the previous manager this autumn

Under-fire manager Ange Postecoglou presented an emotional defence of his legacy while promising to secure silverware with the club provided with patience

The 60-year-old is under pressure having been unable to triumph in none of his opening seven games since replacing Nuno Espirito Santo last month

Forest have been considering their options over the pause in fixtures, with ex-Burnley boss the defensive specialist one of the candidates evaluated to possibly take over even though Postecoglou just taking over for less than six weeks

Forest faces the Blues in their next match and Postecoglou gave a five-minute monologue at his pre-match news conference, with Forest sitting 17th in England's top flight

"Many observers concentrate on the problems but I look at the development occurring," he said, "I'm genuinely enthusiastic as I have a group of young players ready to evolve"

He also confirmed he did not speak with the club's owner Evangelos Marinakis throughout the break

"I don't intend to use my time regarding external perceptions" he continued

"I just don't fit, not here, throughout football" he explained

Explaining His Results

"We finished fifth in my initial campaign" he noted

"Every time the star striker scored a goal I often thought he'd just stayed for another season because it would have been beneficial to have him after finishing fifth"

"But somehow that campaign has vanished from public memory" he contended

Future Focus

"Thus, we reach the current space where there's a different story to share, that possibly I'm no an unsuccessful coach who got lucky to obtain this role"

"but perhaps I'm a manager who if provided patience, the story always ends the same"

"With every team I've managed, the result is consistent - through my leadership and a trophy"

He claimed European silverware last spring - the club's initial honor for 17 years plus their first UEFA silverware in over four decades

Former Celtic manager additionally committed, allowed sufficient opportunity, he would persist with his record of securing silverware throughout his managerial career
