Paramount Skydance is scheduled to initiate mass layoffs beginning on 27 October, eliminating nearly 2,000 positions in the United States within a cost-cutting plan valued at $2bn under top executive David Ellison.

The layoffs are a result of the combination of Skydance Media and Paramount Global, finalized this past August worth $8.4bn.

More global layoffs are likely, with the company aiming to reveal complete information during its third-quarter financial update on 10 November.

Previous updates stated the company planned to eliminate from 2,000 to 3,000 roles before the start of November.

As of December 2024, Paramount retained almost 18,600 permanent and temporary staff and 3,500 temporary project employees.

Paramount Skydance has not yet commented regarding the report.
